What this site is

Ghana Buys is a buy-and-sell marketplace plus a set of independent buying guides. This policy explains what information is collected when you visit, sign up, or post a listing, and how it's used.

Information we collect

If you sign up for our email updates, we collect and store the email address you provide. If you create a marketplace account, we collect your email, password (stored securely by our authentication provider, Supabase — we never see it in plain text), and the display name you choose. If you post a listing, we store what you submit for it: title, description, price, category, location, WhatsApp number, and photo. Browsing the site or reading a guide doesn't require you to submit any personal information.

Marketplace listings

Anything you put in a listing — including your WhatsApp number, chosen display name, and any photo you upload — is shown publicly to anyone who views that listing, so buyers can contact you directly. Don't include information in a listing that you don't want made public. Ghana Buys isn't a party to trades made through the marketplace, doesn't verify sellers or buyers, and doesn't handle payment — trade carefully, meet in safe public places, and inspect items before paying.

Account data

Your account (email, display name, and the listings tied to it) is stored using Supabase as our database and authentication provider. You can delete individual listings yourself from your account page at any time. To delete your account entirely, contact us using the details on the site.

Email updates

Signing up for email updates is optional and opt-in only — we never add you without your action. We only use your email to send occasional new-guide or price-update notices, never to sell or share with third parties. To have your email removed, contact us using the details on the site and we'll delete it from our database.

Cookies and tracking

Some pages load fonts from Google Fonts, which may set cookies or collect technical data (like your browser type) as part of delivering that content. If this site displays advertising in the future (such as Google AdSense), those ad providers may use cookies to show relevant ads based on your visits to this and other sites.

Affiliate links

This site contains affiliate links, including to Jumia. If you click one of these links and make a purchase, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. The retailer (e.g. Jumia) handles your order, payment, and any data you provide during checkout — we don't see or store that information. Review the retailer's own privacy policy for details on how they handle your data.

Third-party links

This site links to external websites (retailers, stores, and other resources). We aren't responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites once you leave Ghana Buys.

Children's privacy

This site isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
